1. What "Verified Pro" means
A Pro shows the Verified Pro badge when our team has reviewed documents they submitted and was satisfied, at the time of review, that:
- the business or person is who they say they are (for example, government-issued photo ID and/or business registration); and
- for categories where we ask for them, the Pro supplied the licence, insurance certificate or certification listed for that category.
We check that documents appear genuine, current and consistent with the profile. We may contact issuing bodies where practical, but we do not guarantee that every document is authentic.
2. What it does not mean
- It is not a criminal record or vulnerable sector check, unless the profile separately and clearly says a background check was done.
- It is not an endorsement, recommendation or guarantee of the quality, safety or legality of any work.
- It does not mean licences or insurance are still in force today - Pros must keep them current, but coverage can lapse.
Customers should still confirm licences and insurance directly for important jobs.
3. Other labels
- "Licensed & insured" is information supplied by the Pro. It is not part of our verification review unless the Pro is also Verified.
- "Featured" means the Pro paid for featured placement. It says nothing about quality or verification.
4. Keeping or losing the badge
We may remove the badge if documents expire, can't be confirmed, turn out to be false, the Pro's details change, the verification fee is refunded, or the Pro breaches our Pro Agreement or Community Guidelines.
5. How we treat the documents
Verification documents are sensitive. Only authorized staff can see them, they are used only for verification, and they are deleted within 12 months after the Pro's account is closed or sooner on request, unless the law requires us to keep them. See our Privacy Policy.
