How it works

Post a project. Compare quotes. Book a local pro.

Master of All Trades connects people who need a job done with independent local businesses. Here is the whole process for both sides, and exactly what it costs.

For customers

Hiring a pro

Free to use. You pay the pro directly, at the price in the quote you accept.

  1. 1

    Post your project

Choose a service, describe the job, and give a budget range and timeline. You can also request a quote from one specific pro from their profile.

  2. 2

    Pros near you respond

Pros who offer that service and cover your location see your request and send a quote with a price and availability. Each project takes up to 5 pending quotes, so you get a shortlist, not an inbox.

  3. 3

    Compare and message

Read profiles and reviews, look at photos of past work, and message the pros you are considering.

  4. 4

    Accept a quote

Accepting a quote books that pro. Your other pending quotes for the project are declined automatically, so nobody is left waiting.

  5. 5

    Pick a time

After you accept, you choose a time from the pro's availability.

  6. 6

    Review the work

When the pro marks the job complete, you can leave one review for it. Reviews only come from completed bookings.

Finding customers

You choose which projects to respond to.

  1. 1

    Create your profile

Add your services, your address and service radius, and photos of past work. Free accounts can show up to 3 portfolio photos; subscribers have no cap. You also confirm that you run an independent business.

  2. 2

    Browse requests

Your feed lists open projects for your services that fall inside your service area. Browsing is free.

  3. 3

    Send a quote

Your first response to a project costs one lead credit. Editing a quote you already sent is free. If the customer cancels the request, the credit is refunded automatically.

  4. 4

    Get booked

If the customer accepts, you are booked. Message them to settle the details, and keep your calendar current so they can pick a time.

  5. 5

    Complete the job

Mark the booking complete when the work is done. The customer can then review it, and reviews build your rating.

For pros

Running more than one location

A franchise or a business with several branches stays one account.

How requests are routed

Each location has its own address, service radius and, if you like, its own list of services. A request goes to a location only when the job is inside that location's radius, so a Regina job reaches your Regina branch and not your Saskatoon one.

If you are matched at more than one location, you pick which one is responding when you send the quote.

What your plan includes

  • Without a subscription: 1 location (your main address).
  • With a subscription: up to 5 locations.
  • Add and manage them from your dashboard under Manage branches. You can pause a location at any time.
  • Locations in provinces that are not open yet can be saved, but they do not receive requests until the province opens.

What it costs

No hidden fees and nothing added at the last step.

Customers

Free. Posting a project, receiving quotes, messaging, booking and reviewing cost nothing. You pay your pro directly for the work.

Pros

  • Creating a profile and browsing requests: free.
  • Responding to a project: one lead credit, bought in packs from your wallet.
  • Request turned out to be a job offer rather than a project? Report it. An admin removes it and refunds the credit.
  • Optional subscription: $31.00/month. It includes up to 5 locations and no cap on portfolio photos, plus 20% off credit packs, plus priority placement in search. Cancel any time.

Common questions

Who is responsible for the work?

Pros on Master of All Trades are independent businesses, not our employees. The contract for the work is between you and the pro you hire. Check licensing, insurance and references before work starts, and ask the pro for current proof.

Can I post a job offer or look for an employee?

No. Master of All Trades is for projects, not employment. Pros can report a request that looks like a job offer, and an admin will review it.

What happens when I accept a quote?

That pro is booked, your other pending quotes for the project are declined, and you choose a time from the pro's availability.

Can I cancel a request?

Yes, from My requests. Any lead credits pros spent on a cancelled request are refunded to them.
